The anticipation has reached a fever pitch as SCORE International officially released the course map for the BFGoodrich Tires 56th SCORE Baja 1000. This year's grand finale of the SCORE World Desert Championship will feature a grueling 1310.94-mile loop, commencing and concluding in the vibrant city of La Paz, Baja California Sur.
This extended loop format, a departure from point-to-point races, presents a unique set of strategic challenges for every class, from the unlimited Trophy Trucks to the fiercely competitive UTV Pro Forced Induction entries. Starting and finishing in La Paz means teams will need to meticulously plan their pit strategies, fuel stops, and chase crew movements across a vast and diverse landscape. The course promises a classic Baja experience, incorporating the brutal silt beds, high-speed dry lakebeds, technical rock sections, and unforgiving fesh-fesh that define this legendary race.
Prerunning will be absolutely critical, as navigators and drivers alike will need to commit every turn, every hidden wash, and every potential hazard to memory. The sheer mileage demands not just raw speed, but an unparalleled level of vehicle preparation and driver endurance. We can expect to see the top teams, like those of Rob MacCachren, Luke McMillin, and Bryce Menzies, already dissecting the digital maps, identifying key sections for bypass shock tuning, tire selection, and potential bottleneck points.
The 56th Baja 1000 is shaping up to be one of the most demanding in recent memory. The La Paz loop will test the limits of man and machine, solidifying its place as the ultimate proving ground in off-road racing. The countdown to contingency and the green flag has truly begun.
